What is the Citizens Advisory Committee?
The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is a resident-led volunteer advisory group to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) that is appointed by the District Board of Managers. The CAC assists the Board of Managers on matters affecting the interests of the Watershed District such as providing feedback on the District’s strategic initiatives, organizational plans, and policy priorities.
To advise and support the District Board of Managers, CAC members:
- Consider issues relevant to the function and purposes of the Watershed District
- Examine, refine, and build upon the strategy and communications for the District’s key initiatives
- Review and advise on the budget, capital improvement plans, and District projects or activities
- Advise and assist in decision-making
- Raise issues of concern from the public

MCWD leads cutting edge work with local partners in our region. Recognizing that what happens on the land directly impacts water quality and quantity, the District partners with policymakers, developers, and local communities to maximize the effectiveness of our work to protect and preserve water resources. This partnership approach results in increased environmental improvements and provides social and economic benefits to communities. CAC members play an important role in this collaborative work and contribute to a watershed-wide effort to improve our local communities.
