What is the Citizen Advisory Committee?

The Citizen Advisory Committee is a resident-led volunteer advisory group to the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District that is appointed by the District Board of Managers. The CAC assists the Board of Managers on matters affecting the interests of the Watershed District such as providing feedback on the District’s strategic initiatives, organizational plans and policy priorities.

The committee advises and supports the District Board of Managers by:

  • Assisting in the development of policies that support the mission and strategic priorities of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District;
  • Considering issues relevant to the functions and purposes of the Watershed District;
  • Reviewing and advising on the budget, capital improvement plans, and other District projects and activities;
  • Advising and assisting in decision-making;
  • Raising issues of concern from the public.

Why Serve on the CAC?

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is engaged in cutting edge work with local partners and CAC members play an important role supporting this work.

Recognizing that what happens on the land directly impacts water quality and quantity, the District is partnering with policymakers, developers and local communities in order to maximize the effectiveness of the District’s work to protect and preserve water resources. This partnership approach not only results in increased environmental improvements but also provides social and economic benefits to the community.  By serving on the CAC, you can advise the District on key initiatives and be part of a watershed-wide effort to improve our local communities.
