Volunteer Spotlight: Master Water Steward Graduate Continue Water Stewardship

April 11, 2019

Barb PattersonA retired pre-school educator, Barb Patterson was looking for opportunities to volunteer in her community of St. Louis Park.  Barb was able to pursue her interest in water by enrolling in the Master Water Steward program, a District supported volunteer program that supports community leaders to install pollution prevention projects that educate community members, reduce pollutants from runoff, and allow more water to soak into the ground.

Since graduating from the program in 2018, Barb continues to remain active the community. In March Barb educated over 50 members of the Edina Community Lutheran Church on steps they can take to keep stormwater on the landscape.  As a member of the church’s Ecofaith group, Barb has also begun working with the church to incorporate more native plants into the landscape.
