2008 Water Quality Monitoring

Monitoring season duration was from May through September. Surface samples were collected once a month throughout the season and the parameters analyzed include: total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll-a.  Measurements of Secchi disc depth were also recorded.

2008 Data Summary

2008 Summer Water Quality Summary
Parameters Range Mean TSI Value Lake Grade
Months   June - Sept.   May - Sept.
Secchi Depth (m) 0.2 - 0.8 0.4 72 F
Surface TP (µg/L) 115 - 505 235 85 F
Chlorophyll-a (µg/L) 42 - 368 124.6 80 F
    Overall Score 79 F

The following summary refers to Figure 10.3 (a-c).

  • Secchi disk depth was below the standard (> 1.2 m) for the entire season. In the beginning of the season, secchi disk depth increased from 0.3 m to 0.8 m. July to September, secchi disk depth ranged from 0.2 m to 0.4 m.
  • From May to August, chlorophyll-a increased in concentration from 8 µg/L to 368 µg/L (standard < 15 µg/L). Chlorophyll-a concentrations decreased to 109 µg/L in September.
  • Surface TP concentrations gradually increased over the entire season with concentrations above the standard (< 40 µg/L). In September, concentrations were about 12 times higher than the standard (505 µg/L).
