2008 Water Quality Monitoring

Monitoring season duration was from May through September. Surface samples were collected once a month throughout the season and the parameters analyzed include: total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll-a.  Measurements of Secchi disc depth were also recorded.

2008 Data Summary

2008 Summer Water Quality Summary
Parameters Range Mean TSI Value Lake Grade
Months   June - Sept.   May - Sept.
Secchi Depth (m) 0.5 - 1.8 1.1 59 D
Surface TP (µg/L) 41 - 155 80.8 69 D
Chlorophyll-a (µg/L) 3 - 237 61 73 D
    Overall Score 67 D

The following summary refers to Figure 11.3 (a-c).

  • Secchi disk depth was 1.3 m in the beginning of the season, and increased to 1.8 m in June. From July to August, secchi disk depth was below the standard limit (> 1.2 m) and increased slightly above the standard in September (1.4 m).
  • Chlorophyll-a concentrations were below the standard (< 15 µg/L) in the beginning of the season. In July, concentrations increased to 15 times the standard limit (237 µg/L) and decreased to about three times the standard in August. Chlorophyll-a concentrations continued to decrease in September.
  • Surface TP concentrations were just above the standard (< 40 µg/L) in the beginning of the season. In July, concentrations increased to 155 µg/L, about four times the standard limit, and then decreased for the remainder of the season.
