2008 Water Quality Monitoring

Monitoring season duration was from May through September. Surface samples were collected once a month throughout the season and the parameters analyzed include: total phosphorus (TP) and chlorophyll-a.  Measurements of Secchi disc depth were also recorded.

2008 Data Summary

2008 Summer Water Quality Summary
Parameters Range Mean TSI Value Lake Grade
Months   June - Sept.   May - Sept.
Secchi Depth (m) 0.7 - 2.3 1.5 55 C
Surface TP (µg/L) 36 - 86 54 63 C
Chlorophyll-a (µg/L)   46.6 70 C
    Overall Score 63 C

The following summary refers to Figure 7.7 (a-c).

  • Secchi disk depth increased from 1.7 m to 2.3 m in the beginning of the season. From June to September, secchi disk depth fluctuated between 0.7 m and 1.5 m (standard > 1.2 m).
  • Chlorophyll-a concentrations increased from 9 µg/L to 106 µg/L from May to August. Concentrations decreased in September to 64 µg/L about four times the standard limit    (< 15 µg/L).
  • Surface TP concentrations increased from 28 µg/L to 86 µg/L throughout the entire season.  Concentrations were below the standard limit (< 40 µg/L) only in May and June.
