MCWD Rules

These rules seek to protect the public health and welfare and the natural resources of the District by providing reasonable regulation of the modification or alteration of lands and waters of the District:

  • to reduce the severity and frequency of flooding and high water
  • preserve flood plain and wetland storage capacity
  • improve the chemical and physical quality of surface water
  • reduce sedimentation, to preserve hydrologic and navigational capacity of waterbodies
  • preserve natural shoreline features
  • to minimize public expenditures to avoid or correct such problems in the future

These Rules establish the permitting requirements for activities occurring within MCWD boundaries. Also be sure to review the Adopted Rules Revisions (as of January 13, 2005) and applicable Rules Definitions and Acronyms.
