Objective

By funding the milfoil weevil study, MCWD would empower a citizen organized group to collect data to assess if the use of weevils as a biological control is a feasible tool for managing Eurasian water milfoil in their lake. The study will address questions in combination with the scientific research results of Ray Newman, Professor at the University of Minnesota, (i.e., stocking weevils in fish exclosures) and the experience of EnviroScience, a Company based in Ohio, (i.e., stocking lakes with large quantities of weevils) to determine if weevils can reduce the biomass of Eurasian water milfoil in Christmas Lake.
