Downtown Mound Redevelopment
In 2005, the Watershed District collaborated with the City of Mound for a redevelopment project within the City to reconstruct the existing downtown business and residential district adjacent to Lost Lake and Langdon Lake. Project partners include: City of Mound, Mound Harbor Development Group and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Project Goals:
- Reduce phosphorus loading to Langdon Lake and Cooks Bay in Lake Minnetonka by 70%
- Demonstrate green infrastructure using innovative stormwater management techniques, treating stormwater as an asset not a waste product
- Model of public/private partnership in development
Project components:
- Rain gardens
- Dry creek swales
- 16,000 sq. ft. pervious concrete parking lot at Wolner Baseball Field
- Pervious paver parking lots at the Transit Station and True Value Hardware Store
