In 2009, MCWD completed a study that identified opportunities to improve water quality draining into Gleason Lake by installing stormwater facilities to capture stormwater runoff near County Road 6 and Dunkirk Lane in Plymouth. This project has been coupled with opportunities to enhance the vegetative diversity of a large wetland complex south of Highway 55 and east of Vicksburg Lane, in addition to a streambank stabilization project planned in the Chelsea Woods/Mews neighborhoods north of 18th Avenue.
These projects are planned to be designed and constructed in 2011 in coordination with the City of Plymouth and are anticipated to reduce loading to Gleason Lake by approximately 60 lbs each year.
