Grants
- Cynthia Krieg Watershed Stewardship Fund:
This fund encourages and supports community service initiatives to protect water quality and promote public awareness of nonpoint source pollution abatement. The MCWD wishes to partner with local community groups, schools, and government agencies to engage citizens in water quality protection through this memorial fund.
- Joint Watershed Research Grant Program:
The goal of this grant program is to provide watershed managers and municipalities with needed research, information, and products based on a sound scientific foundation and a favorable economic assessment that could be employed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
- Riparian Buffers:
The MCWD, in conjunction with the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) and Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), has embarked on a proactive landowner incentive program to further its mission to conserve and protect District water resources through the use of easements (buffers) bordering targeted river systems and associated wetlands. Through the program qualified landowners will receive a yearly stipend throughout the life of an established contract to establish and maintain easements on their lands in accordance with federal land improvement programs.
