2013 Minnehaha Creek Cleanup

Join us for the seventh-annual Minnehaha Creek Cleanup! Together with Leinenkugels and our nonprofit partner, Metro Blooms, we intend to pick up at least two tons of trash from around the creek and Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. The deadline for the RSVP has been extended. 

When: Sunday, June 30 at 9 a.m.
Where: Lake Hiawatha Park (46th Street and 28th Avenue South in Minneapolis)
Who: All volunteers are welcome! This is a family-friendly event.  

Schedule of Events:

  • 9 a.m.: Free bagel breakfast 
  • 9:30 a.m.: Board buses to cleanup locations along creek and chain of lakes
  • 11-11:30 a.m.: Return to Lake Hiawatha for free BBQ lunch provided by Leinenkugel’s
  • 11:45 a.m.: Prizes for kids and adults, including a Leinenkugel’s canoe

Terms of Agreement:

Participants in the Minnehaha Creek Cleanup are responsible for their own conduct and safety. Volunteering involves removing trash and other debris from creeks banks and nearby areas that are uneven, sloped and wet in places. After the cleanup, alcohol is served. By signing below, the participant states as follows:

  • Assumption of risk: I understand that participation is potentially hazardous, and that I should not participate unless I am medically able. I assume all risks of participating, and I assume full responsibility for my conduct and actions, including any injury to myself or others or damage to property that may result while volunteering.  Risks include, but are not limited to, slips, falls, exposure to hazardous materials, falling objects or persons, injury from sharp equipment, improperly administered first aid and drowning.  I recognize the District makes no representations as to safe conditions or whether the safety recommendations provided are comprehensive or adequate.  I acknowledge these hazards and risks associated with participation in volunteer activities and choose to assume them.
  • Photography and publicity: I understand and acknowledge that the District reserves the right to photograph, videotape and otherwise record volunteers and volunteer activities and to use sound and images of the volunteers and volunteer activities for publicity purposes without further release from or concurrence of volunteers. Volunteers will not be compensated for use, playback, transmission or broadcast of such sound and/or images. I understand and acknowledge that my name and other identifying information also may be included in District communications.

I affirm that I am 18 years of age or older and I have read, understand and accept all terms of this document and voluntarily agree to its terms.  I understand that I am relinquishing substantial legal rights, including certain rights to sue.

PARENT OR GUARDIAN OF A MINOR (if volunteer is under 18): I, as parent or guardian of the named minor(s), give my permission for my child or ward to volunteer or accompany me as I volunteer, and further agree, individually and on behalf of my child or ward, to the terms above.
