Stormwater Monitoring
The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) has two ISCO stormwater monitoring stations along Minnehaha Creek that collect water samples during storms. Runoff from streets entering the stream increases nutrient, sediment, and bacteria pollution.
Understanding the amount of pollution contributed to streams during a storm helps the MCWD and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency identify areas in the watershed that may be improved by best management practices.
Currently there are plans to add ISCO stormwater monitoring stations along Six Mile Creek and Painters Creek during 2011.
